Several people have asked me, in different ways, the same question:

“Are you serious?”

This is the answer: Partly yes, partly no.

I’m serious about not liking the “shambari” word being applied to ropework that doesn’t claim to be shibari or aspire to meet the standards of shibari. Whether we really need a new word for ropework like that is an open question.

If “neobari” becomes a recognised word, I’ll be very happy. If t doesn’t, I’ll get over it.

I’m not serious about most of the other stuff, except that some of it is a calculated satirical dig at one or two aspects of the international rope scene and some of the people in it.

Why do I call myself Neobari Bakushi h, Neobari Master h. and etc.? Well, this is the only one of my several bondage sites where I use such titles. Everywhere else, I’m just harper.
